As part of QBE’s corporate signage upgrade, Cunneen Signs was engaged by MPA Projects to deliver illuminated sky signs for their landmark buildings in Sydney and Parramatta.
The Parramatta sign measured 13,000mm x 3,750mm across four elevations, while the Sydney sign came in at 10,816mm x 3,120mm across two elevations, both commanding in scale and highly visible from across the city. Each was fabricated using perforated aluminium faces, finished in QBE’s corporate black and blue to create a strong daytime presence.
Cunneen Signs was responsible for developing the lighting design and prototyping the illuminated solution to suit the unique challenges of each site. Our team engineered a system that balanced performance, aesthetics, and efficiency—resolving design, brightness, and installation considerations prior to fabrication.
At night, the signs come to life with full RGBW illumination, transforming into vibrant architectural features. The lighting system included over 4,600 RGBW LED modules, powered by 30 Meanwell HLG transformers and controlled via L-Tech receivers, allowing dynamic and responsive colour programming.
Due to the height and complexity of the installation, both signs were fitted using rope access methods—requiring precision, coordination, and strict adherence to safety protocols.
